Appealo ("we", "our", or "us") operates appealo-ai.com and provides AI-assisted property tax appeal services for King County, Washington. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, to whom we disclose it, and how we protect it.

3. Disclosure of Your Information
We share your information only as necessary to provide the service:
- King County Board of Equalization — your appeal petition, supporting documentation, and property information are submitted on your behalf as part of the appeal process.
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
- Cloud hosting and database providers — we use third-party infrastructure to store and process your data. All data is stored in the United States.
- Document storage and email delivery providers — we use third-party services to store your documents and deliver transactional emails.
- AI service providers — appeal report generation is processed by third-party AI models. We do not send personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary for the analysis.
- Legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Appealo or others.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Method of Disclosure
Information is disclosed electronically via encrypted API connections to the third-party service providers listed above. Appeal documents submitted to King County are transmitted through the county's official online filing system. No information is disclosed by physical mail or telephone except as required by the appeal process.
5. Security Practices
- All data is transmitted over TLS (HTTPS).
- Database access is protected by row-level security policies.
- Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and is never stored on our servers.
- Signed authorization documents are stored in immutable S3 object storage with a 10-year retention policy.
- Access to administrative functions is restricted to authenticated Appealo staff.
- We regularly review our security practices and update them as needed.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately at contact@appealo-ai.com.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Signed authorization documents are retained for 10 years as required for legal records. You may request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at contact@appealo-ai.com. We will respond within 30 days. Note that we may be required to retain certain information for legal or operational reasons even after a deletion request.
8. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
