Terms of Service

Effective date: May 8, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Appealo ("we", "our", "us") at appealo-ai.com. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Service

Appealo provides AI-assisted property tax appeal preparation and filing for residential properties in King County, Washington. Our service includes:

  • Automated analysis of your property's assessed value relative to comparable sales
  • Generation of an appeal petition and supporting documentation
  • Submission of your appeal to the King County Board of Equalization (BOE) on your behalf
  • Status updates throughout the appeal process

Appealo is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, and our service does not constitute legal representation.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must be the property owner of record or an authorized agent.
  • Your property must be a single-family residence or townhouse located in King County, Washington.
  • Your property must qualify for appeal under current King County BOE guidelines.

3. Fees and Payment

Appealo charges a success-based service fee of $89. This fee is charged only if your assessed value is reduced — whether through a BOE ruling or a pre-hearing assessor settlement. You will not be charged if your assessed value remains unchanged.

By providing payment information, you authorize Appealo to charge the service fee to your card on file upon a successful outcome. If a charge fails, we will retry up to three times. Repeated failures may result in your account being placed on hold.

Fees are non-refundable once charged, as the service (appeal preparation and filing) has been fully delivered.

4. Authorization to Act on Your Behalf

By signing the Authorization to Appeal document presented during onboarding, you authorize Appealo to:

  • Prepare and file your property tax appeal with King County BOE
  • Communicate with King County on matters related to your appeal
  • Receive notices and correspondence regarding your appeal

You retain the right to withdraw authorization at any time by contacting us, subject to the limitations of appeals already in progress.

5. No Guarantee of Outcome

We make no guarantee that your appeal will be successful or that your assessed value will be reduced. The King County Board of Equalization makes all decisions independently. Our service is limited to preparing and filing the appeal on your behalf based on publicly available data.

6. Your Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information about your property and ownership.
  • Keep your contact information and payment method current.
  • Do not file a separate appeal for the same property and tax year while Appealo's appeal is pending.

7. Intellectual Property

The Appealo platform, including all software, models, appeal documents, and reports we generate, is our proprietary property. Appeal documents are prepared and filed with King County on your behalf and are not provided to you. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit our platform or any materials we produce.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Appealo's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost savings from a failed appeal.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Appealo and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your provision of inaccurate information.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity. You may cancel your account at any time by contacting us. Termination does not affect any appeal already submitted to King County.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of King County, Washington.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of the service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
